Down to Jon's

Running long 1:52:30 [4] 20.3 km (5:33 / km) +210m 5:16 / km
ahr:173 max:185 shoes: Walsh Ultra - 2010

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger... still alive, just.

Long run with Jon up to Boar's Hill, lack of running over the last 6 weeks clearly evident - last half hour was a struggle, last 2k was more than a struggle...

Cycling 18:30 [2] 6.3 km (20.4 kph)
ahr:137 shoes: Shimano Road Shoes

Over to the lab

Cycling 44:30 [1] 17.65 km (23.8 kph) +35m
ahr:119 max:166 shoes: Shimano Road Shoes

and home, legs feeling pretty weary.

Home, headwind wasn't as bad as thought it might be, made good time.

Note

Need to keep ITB stretched, can feel it tightening up again now I'm doing more cycling than running.

Bernwood Summer Series. Really enjoyable course early on and you had to keep the concentration high - Mark had put a fair amount of work in on the map and generally threaded the course through the runnable bits, which didn't have much undergrowth either!

Y loop control pick first up - wrong path out of the start, couldn't make much sense of things and relocated on #2. Missed most of the rest round the loop, tricky with few distinct features and plenty of windblow cutting the visibility down - felt a bit Jukola-esque in places.

Z loop was a bit better, some very nice forest but navigation still lacking, missing several controls at the end of the leg. Screwed up the exit of #7 and added a bit of extra distance to things. After missing #1 on the X with another bearing failure it became a bit of a slog, and I wasn't going to kill myself to stay with Jon.

Couldn't seem to stay on a bearing through the various sections of windblow - not really my 'style' of orienteering, something to work on perhaps.

Y loop - 1.2k - 10.30 - 1.5k gps
Z loop - 2.6k -
X loop - 1.6k - 32:45 total, 5.9k gps
