Warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: 2009 Falcons

To try and get the legs moving before the run, feeling a little sluggish

Orienteering 1:27:00 [4] *** 11.3 km (7:42 / km) +340m 6:42 / km
ahr:176 spiked:17/31c shoes: 2009 Falcons

Black course at Mytchett. Tried to take things steady, but difficult at the moment for near 90 minutes... Started off fairly well, then around the road crossing (controls 10 - 18) the concentration went, got frustrated and kept losing time. Then picked up again with just some small bobbles/hesitancy on 22 and 28, before getting confused (yet again) by the tracks en route to 30.

Route choice was terrible today, really just running and not planning ahead, not seeing the safer/faster/better option far too often. Something to work on - maybe even need to stop and think about it for a few seconds in some cases. Also found it difficult to judge paths/tracks would be from the map, stumbling across a fair few unexpectedly as they were bigger than expected. Time loss ~7' - not good.

Picked up a niggle in the left knee, started about half way round, noticeable but not too bad when running but got worse on walking after had finished. Think it's a bout of the old ITB syndrome, need to be careful for a while.

Map seems so cluttered in comparison to that used at the World Cup Relay (plenty more form lines), and the laser printed contours look fuzzy. Confused index contours for gullies on at least one occasion too, where they overlapped.

GPS distance - 12.75km

Stretching 15:00 [0]

ITB and leg muscles, pain seems to have eased a fair bit.

Easy jog down to hills, legs feeling surprisingly good!

Run - off road hills 36:30 [5] 6.3 km (5:48 / km) +225m 4:55 / km
ahr:175 max:200 shoes: Walsh Ultra

Hills in South Park

Pyramid - 3 sets of 30", 60", 90", 60", 30" down, jog down recovery between reps, 3' and 3'30" between sets (latter due to searching for a phone)

Distances - 30" - 125m, 60" - 230m, 90" - 335m, 30" down - 175m

Bit down on best (last October) but that's not surprising, as first hills session for over 3 months, felt pretty good considering!

Warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Walsh Ultra

Walk up the hill to start, then jog back.
