Mapping 45:00 [0]

Survey of Botley Park - rather slow, the snow obscured a few features, and then the white stuff started to fall again, which didn't help matters...

Saturday Feb 7, 2009 #

Run - off road 54:30 [3] 9.4 km (5:48 / km) +100m 5:30 / km
ahr:166 max:184 shoes: VJ Falcons

Enjoyable run out around the usual haunts in the snow - went out at sunset with an orange-pink glow in the sky, came back with the moon glinting off the snow-covered fields. Home - Cowley marsh - golf course - nature reserve - hospital - South Park - Warneford - home. Bottom of South Park already becoming a bit of a quagmire as the snow starts to melt, it's going to be a real mess once clear again.

Snow had gone all icy, crunching as you broke through, definitely took a bit more effort to run through - good terraining!

Note

No orienteering this weekend - Chiltern Challenge now also been cancelled...

Thursday Feb 5, 2009 #

Note

The snow has put paid to the Cambridge race for now - bit of a shame really.

Note

A snowball fight was the nearest I came to training today...

Note
(rest day)

Not feeling quite right, so not going to push it...

seems like a wise choice - evening draws on and am feeling pretty dead.

Warm up/down 14:00 [2] 2.2 km (6:22 / km)
ahr:149 shoes: Walsh Ultra

Round the Jesus playing fields a few times, interspersed with a bit of stretching, both before and after reps.

Run - off road intervals 24:00 [4] 5.15 km (4:40 / km)
ahr:171 max:187 shoes: Walsh Ultra

Well that was rubbish...

Thought I should do a reps session this evening, ended up doing it around the Jesus/Lincoln playing fields after coming back from the lab. Session was 6 x 3' (1'), but the body seemingly didn't want to play ball. Didn't feel as tired as I thought I should when running, but also difficult to push it any faster, heart rates and distances tell the story...

Distance (m): 735, 690, 705, 695, 725, 730
ahr: 169, 169, 173, 173, 176, 177 (max hr - 187)

i.e. none of them faster than I was running the 3k last Friday.

Now the ahr is usually up in the high 180s/low 190s when doing reps, with a max of 200+, so those figures seem quite low - hope it's just the body is tired and not an illness coming on, am going to get a decent night's sleep and see how things feel tomorrow...

Circuits 45:00 [2]

Feeling a little tired this evening, and noticed shin was a bit sore - need to do some more stretching/strengthening.
