M21L at Burghfield Common - started off at a nice pace where it felt I was flowing through the woods but not pushing it - managed to maintain it most of the way round but it certainly got harder work near the end. Need a few more long steady runs under my belt.
Technically wasn't great - some silly errors and missed route choices, especially nearer the end.
#2 - didn't see the bit of rough open that thought I should, then for some reason started running parallel to the valley rather than crossing the stream. Only once crossed did I work out what was going on. 75 secs
#5 - just a small miss, 15 secs or so, drifting towards the control with no close attackpoint, should have been looking for the stone pillar next to it.
#17 - went for the straight route choice when (given bits I'd run through earlier) round would have been better. The ditch on the edge of the block halfway along the leg was a bit wider and deeper than the map suggested - at least waist deep I'd guess. So bailed and went round the paths. ~2 mins
#22 - poor poor compass work, confused slightly by the gravelled areas and drifted far too far left, ending up near big path that could have taken to get me to where I ended up. Then another drift left through next block, followed by a misread of which junction the flag was on. 45 secs - 1min
#23 - better route choice along ride/path, I went straight and lost some time diverting round the pond
Some other points where was dragged slightly by the vegetation actually unintentionally improved the route choice, given the variation in the white from gorgeous runnable to low bramble/bracken/brashing-covered. Still need to assess route choices better though...
