Orienteering 1:32:12 [3]
First time out orienteering since October... Felt slow
Ran the Green course... Getting 15 of the 20 controls. started with 10 on the west side of the pond and then 3 on the east side and 2 more on the west side on the way to the finish. Route choice probably wasn't the best... so easy to rethink things when it's all over.
Route: 109 101 110 102 111 112 118 114 115 116 107 105 120 117 113
109 - actually planned on 101 first but felt disoriented right off the bat
101 - headed downhill to take trail north...crossed a log over the marshy area and to an area where a new orienteerer was coming from and headed there where I thought the flag would be
110 - trail run south... Could see flag easily
102 - trail run .... Wanted to see this area as a new trail is there... Veered off trail too early... Smiled at a trail cam!
111 - trail run
112 - trail run around bend and then through the woods. Paused a second after crossing trail not seeing flag. it was right behind a large tree in the distance
118 - trail run
114 - cut through meadow... Saw Tyler ahead of me doing the same thing. Saw Laurie and Rick W. going opposite way
115 - longer trail run...passed a guy who offered to point me in the right direction but I declined
116 - opted to run to road and headed SE... Saw flag from road
107 - ran in grass heading to the Cobblestone house... Dog leg
105 - across grass and cut through some green remembering we just did the Trail O in this area last month
120 - took trail south and straight though the green. Should have run in parking lot instead
117 - felt like gambling and ran along pond to the Southview shelter...wondered if I'd break through the icy marsh ... There used to be a trail here but maybe only ran along part of it. would have done 107 120 105 and not go through the marsh
113 - had a great view of flag after crossing field and road
F - ran back to road
