Went out to Balickera Hills for a rerun of state league 4 from 2015. Ran the course backwards. No idea how the map held together in the wet. Some of the creeks were very very wet and the rocky ground was incredibly slippery.
Some pretty bad compass errors particularly on #16 and #23 cost be big time. I don't know what I was doing but I was trying to aim left of the green on the way to 16 and clearly never corrected after going around it.
Also on the way to 17 my compass for about 30 seconds just took a back seat haha. So I think the important message is that my compass work is fine when I'm using it but I just have to make sure not to simply ignore when the compass and the map aren't agreeing with eachother, or worse still, just running without even checking if the direction is good. I think had I not made those few errors I could have really cut down on the time.
I was starting to really struggle towards the end physically which I expected. Really went out of my way to avoid the green, and took track routes wherever possible most of the time because of how heavy going the wet forest was. Good solid run though.
