Orienteering (Orienteering Gala Day!) 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: Saucony

So my mother volunteered for a full Gala day teaching primary aged children how to orienteer. About 5 hours all up of just kinda walking around and probably and hour of picking up controls and putting out SI units, then about half an hour picking up controls and waking up controls. Kinda hard to quantify but it's going on the log

cycling (Pinnacle Loop) 45:00 [4] 21.0 km (2:09 / km)

Back home and I decided to do the pinnacle loop on the bike. Cold as sin outside but it's a great road for riding, big climb, no traffic, mountain streams. Time was and climbing ability needs a lot of work. Brilliant ride though.

Running intervals (Wednesday night ints) 30:00 [5]
shoes: Saucony

Ints at Glendale. Did a shortened warm down. Did 5 x 800m, the first 3 were on a 4:30 cycle, then the last 2 on a 5 min cycle. We all felt rubbish this week. Pumped for the semi final for netball tonight. Shaved my legs for the event.

cycling (To and from glendale) 50:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:16 / km)

Note
(rest day)

Legs still sore after the weekend. Bought a new bike helmet cause my old one was really loose. Looking forward to wednesday track session.

Orienteering race (Qb3 day 3 middle) 47:00 [4] ***** 5.0 km (9:24 / km)
shoes: Salomon s-lab

Struggled in the thick green towards the start. Was running with Blaire for most of the course from number 4 onwards so most of the granite was clean. Just had nothing in the legs after yesterday. Could feel sporties in my stomach like a rock still.. Physically struggled and that transferred to a mentally sloppy race.

Orienteering (Control collecting) 50:00 [2] ***** 4.2 km (11:54 / km)
shoes: Saucony

Went out with Macey to pick up controls. Something fun about just trotting around the granite when you're not trying to race through it. Great courses from both Josh and Parto. Thanks for the weekend. Felt like I've learned a bit about granite

Orienteering race (Qb3 day 2) 1:49:00 [4] ***** 13.5 km (8:04 / km)
shoes: Salomon s-lab

The world's worst orienteer strikes again! Only 1 > 5 min mistake but just had nothing to give speed wise. Legs felt dead and that only got worse towards the end. Super slow, nav was alright. Endurance was shocking. Need some long runs inthe legs.

Orienteering (Control picking up) 50:00 [2] 4.0 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Salomon s-lab

Completely shattered. This was a struggle.

Orienteering race (Qb3 day 1) 20:07 [3] *** 2.6 km (7:44 / km)
shoes: Salomon s-lab

Turns out I'm actually the worlds worst orienteer. 20 minutes for a course that should have taken me 16 if I ran relatively cleanly. Nav wasn't even hard, don't know how I made these errors. Frustrating. Ran straight past #5 which cost me about a minute. Then just fluffed around the next few controls. Then ran alright till 17 when my bearing was just off, lost another 30 seconds. Then lost more time on the next 2 controls. Frustrating, like most of my orienteering races these days. Hopefully I'm not as useless tomorrow. (Gotta make up time on Blaire)

Running intervals (Wednesday night ints) 20:00 [5] 5.0 km (4:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony

3* 500m, 4 * 400 and 5 * 300m intervals. Went out pretty hard. Started to feel the mcdonalds about half way through the 400 metres. Macey ruined me in the 400m and 300m. Cruel bastard.

cycling 50:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:16 / km)

Riding to and from the glendale track. Attempt at demoralize the full team kit wanker on a hill coming to training was foiled by traffic lights. Started to get cramps on the warm down after intervals which made the ride home a bit of a struggle.

Running warm up/down (Interval warmup/down) 25:00 [2]

Monday easy jog with Josh, Agnus and Tamara. Nice easy jog followed by ab destruction.

Strength n stuff (core sesh ) 25:00 [3]

Tamara's monday night core strength session.

cycling (To foreshore and shops) 1:00:00 [3] 30.0 km (2:00 / km)

Orienteering race (Newcastle pairs event.) 40:00 [4] *** 6.4 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Salomon s-lab

Eeergh. Decided to do the whole thing by myself, which proved hard mentally because the teams I was against usually had two runners with highly differing levels of pace. Went great for the first 4km or so but then just hit the redline and made mistake after mistake, eventually going to the wrong control on the pivot. Wasn't too far behind the pace before this. Annoying but encouraging. Looking forward to QB3. Fitness is coming along but need more endurance. Need to focus on compass work in the granite next week.
