9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:102 max:138 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

It wasn't raining, so 9Round in the back parking lot. Did some sparring with Bailey. A really good whole body workout.

Without the dog. After 9Round, I tried the little key in my back pocket to get back into the car, but it didn't work. I borrowed a phone, and left messages on both Bob's cellphone and the house phone. Then I started walking home. My phone, water, hat and sunglasses were all locked in the car. I'm glad I put on lots of sunscreen this morning. I did have my boxing gloves, which I wore while walking. There were no sidewalks for most of the route, and usually no shoulder, just a ditch full of weeds, so I played dodge car. I did stop a couple of times on the one steep hill to catch my breath. I was within a quarter mile of home when Bob saw me and stopped. He was coming back from a trip to Lowe's in Liberty, and hadn't got my messages. We went home, I had chocolate milk, and he took me back to 9Round to pick up my car. I think I have had my exercise for the day.

Recycled, and walked around part of the high school. Bob wanted to get back to pour a pad, so we cut it pretty short. At last a day without rain this week, or at least while we were walking.

Started at the south end of Mack Porter, ran around part of the circuit, and crossed over the bridge to Jesse James. Ran all of the main trail at Jesse James, then back over the bridge, and a return loop in Mack Porter to the car. All walking--I forgot my knee braces and inhaler. Overall pace was 9:58/km, with the first, fourth and fifth all under 10/km. So I am hanging in there until the end.

Workout 10:46 [4]
ahr:105 max:147 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

Bob got me this extra large, extra cushy yoga mat for my birthday, so I used it for a cardio workout I found online. Thirty mountain climbers, 20 jumping jacks, 10 Burpees, and a 20-second rest break. Then repeat three more times. I only got to doing the routine three times, and decided it would do for now. But it does feel good now that I'm all done.

Mack Porter in the rain. I really wanted some exercise, and Elray was game. We saw no other people in the park.

Kind of a repeat of yesterday's walk. Smelled better--the stiff breezes the last two days dissipated that horrid odor. We kept a good pace while walking, but had a few extended stop and sniffs to lower the average. Cool, and breezy. We did our walk late today because I actually went into HyVee for groceries. I've been doing pickup or delivery, but needed some specific things because I'm bringing dessert to the joint birthday party Sunday. Felt kind of weird to be in the store.

Elray and I walked at Mack Porter at a different time of day. It was spitting small raindrops all morning. When I first went out with her this morning, I came back in and changed from short sleeves to long sleeves. At Mack Porter, we did the woodland loop and the longer haul around the ball fields. It was very stinky in our usual parking place, but better on the east side on the trail. A good pace when walking, but she was very insistent on sniffing, and splayed out several times. I got some upper body training in while trying to move her along. The park was mostly abandoned. And I wore my gloves.

Parked at the north end of Mack Porter and went over the bridge and walked the shorter main loop at Jesse James. My pace averaged only 12/km, but that included a very long, steep hill, which slowed me down. Otherwise, good pace. There was a terrible raw sewage type smell at Mack Porter where we parked, but it smelled much better over at Jesse James. Warm, but overcast which made a pleasant morning.

Pretty warm today on the Riverfront Trail, and I tried out my new bluetooth headphones, my birthday present to self. So I didn't do any running, only race walking. When my fenix 5x quit, they replaced it with a fenix 5x plus, so it plays music. It took me most of the week to figure it all out and get synchronized, but it worked fine today. I have very small ear canals, so ear buds are hard to put in and annoying, and I like to know what's going on around me. These headphones are great. They transmit the sound through the bones in front of the ears. I have been slowing down a lot for the last km, but today it was my third fastest. I was using a playlist for runners that is supposed to be 160 beats/min. Nice. Got home and had chocolate milk. Now I'm tired.
