9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:105 max:137 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

An outdoor workout today with a new trainer, Pat. He came over from New Mark, so is very experienced. This was tough, and I did a good effort. I will probably be sore tomorrow. Pretty aerobic in places, and I can tell the loss of muscle with the kettlebell round--upright rows, swings, and OH presses for 3 minutes. We also sprinted a couple of times around the parking lot twice between rounds.

When I got home, still out of breath, Bob and Elray were just getting ready to go to Mack Porter for their walk. So I changed shoes and went with them.

Note

Strangely enough, my new fenix 5Xplus did not include my steps or elevation gain in my daily data. Hmmm.

Mary Ann and I did the control picking course on West Campus. We both had maps, and I let her handle the navigation. We conferred a couple of times, and I also pointed our some features on the map, but she read it pretty well, and is interested in doing another course. This was the third one this summer. Then we got Chinese takeout, and ate on her back patio. I brought her green beans and two types of melons from my garden. It was a good visit.

Dog Walking 18:20 [3] 1.62 km (11:19 / km) +3m 11:13 / km
ahr:109 max:145

Mack Porter Park. I paused my fenix during "walk the doggie" time, and the rest of the walk was 10:14/km.

Afterwards, we stopped at the post office and I mailed my broken fenix 5x back to Garmin. I'm still learning to use this new one, but I like it.

Mack Porter park with Bob and the Elray. Good pace with stops, and a really nice, cool, not humid day.

Note

When I got home, I found out that my replacement fenix 5x had been delivered. Now I have a fenix 5x plus and have to figure out how to program it.

I did my 5K from Mack Porter to Jesse James and return. Since the gate was locked, I had to start in a different place from my usual. It was a bit close to having a big breakfast, so I did all of this walking. Stayed under 10/km until the last km, and averaged 9:51/km just walking. Tried to concentrate on form.

ahr:99 max:120 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

Missed training with Jared last week, because he thought he might have been exposed to Covid-19, but he had a negative test. So we met today and it was tough. I pushed and pulled the sled with 190 lbs and the brake on. Whew! And lots of tough balance stuff and upper body.

Mack Porter park. Weather was perfect. Cool, with a nice NW breeze.

Note

Yesterday I spent about an hour chatting again with Garmin. Third time. My fenix 5x was still not downloading steps, sleep, or heart rate data for more than one day. This time they are sending me a new (refurbished) model which is good, because today the fenix didn't even download today's activity. The data was in the watch under history.

Slogging 1:01:05 [4] 6.12 km (9:59 / km) +51m 9:35 / km
ahr:111 max:154 slept:7.0

Riverfront Trail. Slightly slower than last month--averaged 9:53/km vs 9:46/km. My first four km were all under 10/km, but then I did less slogging and more walking. I need to keep my form up while race walking. It disintegrates when I get tired. I also need to smooth transitions from walk to slog to walk. The good part was that I didn't need to stop and rest.
