Slogging 1:00:59 [3] 6.15 km (9:55 / km) +39m 9:37 / km
ahr:97 max:142 shoes: INOV-8 TrailRoc 270

I'd planned on getting up early, but Elray had us up for about 3 hours last night because of the thunderstorms, and we slept in. Just as well--it was still raining when I took her out this morning. Watkins Mill clockwise. I wore my trail shoes because I thought the leaves and moss might make the trail a bit slippery. I slip-slided on the first bridge, and carefully walked all bridges after that, but still slid a bit on one more. I had forgotten my knee braces, so I was also careful downhill. Not as good as I had hoped, but I averaged 9:55/km.

Note

Too many medical appointments today to do much else. I'm exhausted.

Dog Walking 29:14 [1] 2.3 km (12:43 / km) +23m 12:06 / km

Elray and I went to Jesse James Park and did all of the main trail. We got off trail and went down a really steep hill. I wasn't wearing my knee braces and it was uncomfortable. Otherwise, ok. Hot at 8 am, but not too bad with a brisk SE breeze, and when the sun went behind clouds.

Runner's workout. Held some of the stretches longer today. This morning I went to Trader Joe's. First time in a grocery store in 100 days. And I got my Grandma's training shirt. A good day.

Only 57 degrees when I took Elray for the early morning walk. We all went to Mack Porter and walked over the bridge to Jesse James and the main trail. Then came back. Beautiful weather, about 70, and we met no others on the path.

Mack Porter park with Bob and Elray. I had to sandwich this in between my chiropractor (shoulder is good now) and having an echocardiogram (sp?) later today. Short, but good. Great weather today, and I am not as frizzy as usual this time of year.

Dog Walking 22:06 [1] 1.68 km (13:09 / km) +6m 12:55 / km

Mack Porter park, including "walk the doggy". My left heel was still a bit ouchy, but no skin broken. And my right knee is a bit sore. Strangely, my shoulder kept me awake Saturday night, hurting on and off. Yesterday, I maintained my good racewalking posture through most of the course, and after I was finished, no shoulder pain. None today either.

Since Grandma's Marathon was supposed to be Saturday, yesterday Coach Tom from the Runcoach team posted a runner's workout. Lots of stretching and some strengthening. So I did it today for my sore legs and butt.

Slogging 3:32:35 [5] 13.1 mi (16:14 / mi) +295m 15:10 / mi
ahr:114 max:149

Today I did my half marathon at Watkins Mill, but I walked all of it. Alternated between clockwise and counter-clockwise. I did well through the first 13 km--averaging less than 10min/km. Then I got a hot spot on my left heel, and that impacted my pace. Still not too bad until the last two km. I got a bit light-headed from low blood sugar. Bob showed up, and we walked the last km together--that one took over 13 min/km. I really needed the bands and high fives in Duluth to get me through those last two km. It's really hard on your own, but I did without training more than 4 miles at a time.
