Note

We were supposed to be in Duluth today for Grandma's Marathon, and I was going to do the half marathon again. Too bad. Nice and cool in Duluth, and they know how to show you a good time.

We all went to Mack Porter park again and did our usual circuit. Air temperature was pretty good. I had very little sleep last night, because my shoulder was hurting. The good thing is that it isn't extending up into my neck any more. I will continue to use heat and do neck stretching. I need to look up some shoulder stretches also.

Gardening. I went out to weed around the vegetables, and then pick blueberries. Really worked up a sweat because there were a lot more blueberries than I had anticipated. Also, I had to balance on the edge of the pond some of the time. Do not want to fall in. There was a large snapper in there and probably still is. Did my dry rub down, shower with scratchy thing, another rubdown, and all clean clothes. Do not want chiggers, ticks, or poison ivy.

Note

Between the rain and a doctor appointment, i'm taking a rest day. Only had my usual early morning walk with the Elray.

All the way on the Riverfront Trail. Only about a fourth of this was in the shade, but there was a nice breeze most of the time. I managed to do the first 4 km at less than 9min/km/ Km 5 had a lot of uphill. My overall average was about 9:30/km. Then home for chocolate milk and some raisin toast. I'm feeling good now. Keep up with the heat on shoulders and neck.

Bob had a doctor appt, so I walked Elray, starting at Mack Porter, over the bridge to Jesse James, and around the shorter loop, because I get grocery orders today and needed to get home. Weather was good-warm, but not so humid.

Another short walk, but we used a different ballfield, and Elray got to walk the doggy without killdeer. Then a stop by the library. They opened today, but only to pick up holds or use the computer. It was still wonderful.

I followed Dr. advice and have used heat on my neck. Bob looked up some neck stretches on Youtube and I did them last night (and again this morning). Much better sleep, and the neck pain is gone--just slight discomfort. Now I can feel where the hurt actually is in my shoulder. Maybe back to Youtube to get more shoulder stretches and do the range of rotation exercises I used to do with Jared.

Mack Porter park. A really short one, since we can't walk the doggy until the killdeer leave. My shoulder and neck kept me awake all night, so I am seeing my chiropractor later today.

Watkins Mill clockwise. It's hard to motivate to do this, but I always feel so good when I'm finished and drinking my chocolate milk. I wish I could bottle that feeling to make me do this more. It's the worst part of hay fever season, and I'm pretty congested, but I used my inhaler (and knee braces) today. My pulmonologist gave me an ok to do really deep breathing, and said that exercise is the best thing I can do right now. A bit of discomfort in my neck, shoulder and right knee, but not that bad. And I beat my time in May by almost a minute.
