Orienteering race 1:07:26 [3] *** 2.8 km (24:05 / km) +89m 20:47 / km

Slow and extra careful to not fall down with my broken wrist, but I did fall down once, but had a soft landing. My major mistake was the leg from 2 to 3. I went too far to the left and was looking for the control on spurs beyond. I did see a dead possum, and realized I had gone too far. One other control was a very minor 15 feet or so to the east. The rest were really solid navigation, mostly just using the compass. So I felt good about that. Great day. Had fun.

Lots of modifications, but a really good workout. Ali shuffles and criss-cross feet got my heart rate going.

Note

A really good turnout for the Possum Trot and about twice as many as usual for the vegetarian chili. So I spent about an hour chopping veggies, and now I'm simmering. Since the only thing left is opening cans, I am enjoying my adult beverage.

Putting out controls at Knob Noster. I didn't bring my compass and got turned around somehow, but realized it. This was a pretty major mistake. One set of flagging had fallen off, but I kind of recognized the place, and found the flagging on the ground. Otherwise, no problems. Went to lunch in Warrensburg afterward with Nick, Dick, Nancy, and Paul.

ahr:76 max:101 shoes: GORUN5

I saw my doctor this morning, and had my wrist x-rayed. It is fractured. I have to wear a brace all the time for the next three weeks, and then go back for evaluation. Yes, even for showers, by covering it in a plastic bag.

So, we mostly did agility, balance, and legs at my workout. Only a couple of shoulder exercises, and bands, but no weights. I did finish with pulling the sled back and forth across the gym twice.

Elray and I started at Mack Porter, crossed over the bridge to Jesse James, and did the east loop. She did lots of sniffing, and I gathered dandelion greens for Harvey. She was as bored with my gathering as I was with her sniffing. But Harvey liked it--he had a small mountain of leaves.
