Orienteering race 1:12:44 [4] ** 4.95 km (14:42 / km) +33m 14:13 / km
ahr:128 max:155 spiked:13/14c shoes: INOV-8 Trail Talon 225

Annual meeting at Stoll Park and sprint run mostly on the JCCC campus. I did well until around 10. One lap was actually at a pace of 7:28/km. Then the heat (mid 90's) got to me, and I stopped 4 or 5 times to rest. Once I even went into a building and got some water, then went back out to finish. I was so exhausted, hot, and dehydrated that my shoulder almost didn't hurt.

9Round 32:00 [3]
ahr:110 max:124 shoes: INOV-8 Alltrain 215

We got off to a late start today, because I wanted to make sure the rain had stopped. A poor night's sleep. The storm hit between 4:00 and 4:30, which really got Elray riled up. And she made sure we didn't sleep.

My shoulder was still hurting. I can raise my arm front and side to about shoulder height without pain, but it gets a bit sketchy after that, so I was a bit wimpy today at 9Round. I finally did my jacks with legs only, and pushups hurt also, so I went to my knees. It must be time to hit the ibuprophren again.

I just wore my walking shoes today. We went to the Riverfront Trail, out and back to the road.

Note
(injured)

Late this afternoon, my right shoulder started hurting. Probably because I did intense aerobic gardening for about an hour and a half. Weeded four rows of asparagus with my trusty tool, and since it was hot and I was tired, I really attacked those weeds. Bedtime ibuprophren.

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:112 max:128 shoes: Skechers GoFit

This was a tough workout even if my heart rate didn't get past the yellow. Almost constant jumping in Round 1, but Round 9 was the tough one. All done on a Bosu trainer--alternating 10 ab tucks with 20 flutter kicks until the last 20 second which were spent staying in V-position on the BOSU.

Jesse James Park. Clockwise on the main loop, so we got to climb the steep hill. It was really hot going up at the end, but we had a nice breeze coming back down. I had planned on doing something else, but forgot to pack my other shoes, so I had to wear my fitness shoes--not so good for running.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
ahr:87 max:143 shoes: INOV-8 Trail Talon 225

Workout with my trainer. Finished with a five-part set, 50-75-90-75-50, up the ramp. Some of the weights felt very heavy.

9Round 32:00 [3]
ahr:100 max:120 shoes: Skechers GoFit

It really felt like I was working harder than this some of the time. Heart rate is from the chest strap. My fenix registered a max of 125.

Mack Porter. I had read this morning in Runner's World that adding 4-6 sprints would double the belly fat burn, so we did six sprints during our walk, plus my 100-yard dash down the driveway this morning when I took Elray out for her early morning. Bob thought I was recovering better--I used to come in, flop on the stairs, and whine about dying. Now I just try to catch my breath.

This week's CHOW was on Round 8. Number of punches on the speed bag in 3 minutes. I did 406.

Dog Walking 29:51 [2] 238.0 km (8 / km) +9m 8 / km

Parked at the north end of Mack Porter and walked over the bridge into Jesse James. We walked a bit of the south loop and then walked back.

We had our monthly pilgrimage very early this morning to take Linda to breakfast at Denny's. Just before we left, the deluge started. I got soaked taking her from the restaurant door to the car door, and soaked again, taking her back to the home. Then we hurried home, and planted eight rows of corn like mad men before the rain (but not a deluge) came to Kearney.

After lunch, Elray got really feisty, probably because I didn't walk her this morning. So, on to Mack Porter, where we did the south loop and the trail, then the north loop. Nice and cool.
