Burpee Friday. The last 30-seconds of each round we did Burpees with an add-on. I managed to go over my maximum heart rate today. The last round was a killer--tossing and catching a medicine ball ten times in V-up position, followed by 20 Russian twists, and repeat. Usually my core is good, but I had to have some momentary stops on this one. It was a relief to hear the 2.5 minute bell, and finish out with my Burpees.

After recycling, Elray and I took the Riverfront Trail from the old tennis courts to the new tennis courts, with a couple of short side trips. Very wet outside, which must make the smells better. I finally clipped her to my belt to get her moving.

Seemed a little easier than usual today, but I am also kind of sore from last night's yoga.

Orienteering 14:30 [2] 0.9 km (16:07 / km)
shoes: INOV8 TrailRoc 235

I spent the day with Paul and Nick at Tonganoxie Middle School. We had about 160 6th graders do a Score-O in four groups. After they finished, I helped pick up controls. These were the eleven closest to start. The kids were really nice, and several thanked me as I was gathering the controls.

Workout 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: INOV8 TrailRoc 235

My weekly workout with Jared. We started an hour later than usual, since I had to return from Tonganoxie. Especially good on the upper body tonight.

Angela (the owner) was my trainer today, and she always works on form. Lots of up-downs.

Dog Walking 22:10 [3] 1.4 km (15:50 / km)
shoes: INOV8 TrailRoc 235

Took Elray to Jesse James Park, and then we went shopping at Orschlens for kibble. Really nice day, but windy.
6 PM

Yoga 1:10:00 [3]

Tonight I went to the Yoga-Pilates Fusion Class, which was hard work and I really warm and sweaty. When it's this hard, it probably means you should do more of it. I managed to keep up with all but one, which needed a lot of balance, so I had to rely on the wall. Doing yoga has made my big toes bend more easily and with less pain. That's a good thing. We did lots of Down Dogs, and I'm good with it now.

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:112 max:129 shoes: Skechers GoFit

Both a new CHOW for this week (jab, cross, 2 round kicks) and trying to make the 300 club at the speed bag. I had over 50 for the CHOW, mighty fine, and 391 at the speed bag. Good start.

My chest strap gave the heart rate data listed above, but my Fitbit had my max at 165 while I was doing the CHOW on round 6. They used to be fairly close together on data. I charged my HRM this weekend to see if that was the problem, but apparently not. After working out really early, I had to go to Overland Park and sit for three hours getting my car serviced.
6 PM

Yoga 1:16:00 [0]

Restorative.

Score-O at Clinton Overlook. I did my usual slow start with a mistake--started going to 233, then changed my mind and went back and started with 228. I shouldn't change my mind; just start and go with it. I lost about 3-4 minutes. Then, on the second control, I made a wrong turn and had to backtrack. After that, I got better. After getting out of the woods, I did a fair amount of running, and it felt fine. I just to build up the aerobic capacity a little, which is difficult during hay fever season. When I got to 241, I cut across and went back north. Control 240 was up near the top of the hill, and I have been pretty congested and also didn't want to go overtime. After getting in, I think I could have made it in time, since the last part of the course was a lot faster than the beginning. All in all, it was great to get out in the woods with a map, and I had a really fun Sunday morning.
