OK had a compass practice at a Riverfront Park in Lawrence, and since I had badly messed up with my compass in Georgia, thought this would be a great opportunity. Thank you, maprunner and Spike.
There were 7 control, plus start and finish, and when I got to Finish, I worked backward to the Start. No problems until the return trip with one and two. Just lost a little focus, but found them, mostly by checking the terrain. I did use my compass on the others. Part of the time and distance was because of crossing a very wet and muddy creek. I ran up and down looking for a crossing place, and felt very fortunate not to have lost my shoe in the mud. It was also a trick climbing up the muddy bank. On the return trip, I found a better crossing place with lots of tree limbs to walk across.
All in all, a very satisfying and productive day. Now I am trying to download into QuickRoute.
