Note

Somehow I messed up my right knee a few days ago. It's been feeling somewhat unstable, and it's in the back of the knee on the inside. It doesn't hurt except for a twinge now and then, but I decided safer, not sorrier, and put on a knee brace (we have a huge selection at our house) to take Elray out. I spent about 15 minutes walking her around, then onto the tennis lesson, which worked out pretty well. I had planned on going to Smithville Lake this afternoon, but I may just rest the knee instead. And that will also be a 5 day rest from 9Round.

Dog Walking 41:04 [3] 3.8 km (10:48 / km)
shoes: INOV8 TrailRoc 235

Elray wasn't cooperative this morning with the tennis lesson, but with this great weather we had to go to Watkins Mill for a longish walk. Fifty-seven degrees on Dec. 24 brings to mind 1982 on the farm, when we had two tornadoes in December, including one on the 24th. Do not want to do this again, but still enjoying the weather while we have it.

Workout 1:07:00 [3]
shoes: INOV8 TrailRoc 235

Workout with Jared. My back was hurting some, so he tailored the workout to not make it worse, and gave some stretching suggestions, since he thinks its from really tight muscles. Particularly where the top of the glute is attached.

9Round 32:00 [4]

Not as aerobic, but quite a bit of weight lifting and some challenging moves.

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:115 max:134 shoes: Skechers GoFit

Definitely more vigorous than yesterday. Lunge walking across the room and back holding a heavy (20 lb for me) kettlebell, four pushups, and back to lunge walking, changing hands. Plus several more toughies, then, at the end, holding plank position for a minute, which almost seems easy now.

Dog Walking 27:05 [3] 2.27 km (11:56 / km)

Jesse James Park clock-wise. Elray had chased a herd of deer this morning, so she was still wound up and not exhibiting the best of behavior. Brutal cold wind blowing.

9Round 32:00 [4]
ahr:104 max:130 shoes: Skechers GoFit

Pretty easy for Monday morning. The CHOW was 30 hits on the speed bag, then do a Burpee, and repeat, counting Burpees. I managed 10. The last round was a toughie, but not aerobic--it was all core. Although my back felt much better--after three days on drugs--my sleep was still not good. Guess I need to figure this one out.

After getting over my anger at yesterday's debacle, I'm not sure why I lost focus. It's been my mantra at yoga. I think I know why I didn't figure out my directional challenge for so long. It was almost 1 pm, and I had breakfast at 7am. I should have eaten my waffle before heading out. Kind of duh, since I know I have problems with blood sugar drops.

Yoga 1:22:00 [0]

Restorative. Very relaxing evening. I traded in my mantra for "Breathe Deep", which also happens to be the name of the Yoga Studio.

Orienteering 57:20 [4] *** 2.78 km (20:37 / km)
shoes: INOV8 Bare Grips

Started the green course at Blue & Gray. I made a really stupid mistake going from 2 to 3--a 180. Not only did I know better, I kept thinking it was wrong, but kept going wrong. Finally, after almost 20 minutes, the brain kicked in and I turned around to go south to 3. I did get to 3, and headed to 4. By this time, I was all scratched up by briars, some of which were intertwined on the trails, and had very wet and muddy feet from many stream crossings. So, when I got back to the road, just south of the start/finish, I decided to DNF instead of going to 4. I was just too angry at myself. Now forgiveness, but not forgetfulness, needs to settle in. DON'T BE STUPID.
