Note
(injured)
Today was knee surgery. Since I didn't have to leave the house until 1100, I thought about going to 9Round. But since I didn't eat or drink anything (including water) since around 8 pm the night before, I decided low blood sugar and dehydration were already bad enough.
My surgery was scheduled for 1300, but it was after 2 pm before they brought me in. Except for the wait, it was a much pleasanter experience than I had twenty years ago for the right knee.
I am home with wrappings and an ace bandage. No wheelchair, walker or crutches, but I'm supposed to take it really easy for a few days, and ice every hour. I have some heavy duty pain pills, but it actually doesn't hurt anymore than before the surgery. At least, up till now.
The good news is that I can drive after 24 hours, because I don't need to stomp on the brake with my left knee. Since I was totally out of it, the doctor talked with Bob. I had lots of little shreds of meniscus floating around and getting in the way. He removed them, and also gave me a cortisone shot in the knee. I'm not supposed to work out for two weeks. The really bad news is that I have extensive arthritis and will probably need a knee replacement at some time in the future. I go back to see Dr. Paul on Sept 1, with lots of questions.
