Another trip to PT yesterday, and more exercises added. I'm progressing much faster than either of us expected, and I can thank Jared and Round9 for having my muscles balanced and in good condition before this happened. I go back to PT next Wednesday.

The most difficult thing for me to do right now is getting in and out of the car. If I'm not thinking about it, I get a twinge in the knee. Also, carrying stuff up and down the stairs, which I did a lot in preparation for Easter tomorrow. Bob has been a trooper about helping me out.

Dog Walking 20:00 [1]

Took Elray to Mack Porter Park and did a slow turn around some of the paved paths. A little achy in the bottom right quadrant of the knee, but mostly ok. I can't believe how much better this is. Back to the PT tomorrow.

Bicycle 10:00 [1] 1.3 mi (7:42 / mi)

Tried riding the bicycle. The PT gave me an ok on this. I took it very slow, but it felt fine except for trying to get my bike shoes on. That was a little painful. Now I'm going to ice, and maybe try another 10 minutes this evening.

Went to the physical therapist, and got super checked out. Today I felt incredibly better than yesterday--only got a few twinges getting in and out of the car, and I have to really go slow up and down stairs. Otherwise, good.

The physical therapist diagnosed a knee sprain, but nothing pulled loose. Yeah! He said two to six weeks. I have exercises to do, and I need to keep up the compression and icing, rest when I get tired. I can get on the exercise bike if I go really slow and short, then ice. I go back on Friday.

Went to the doctor this afternoon, and he prescribed pain meds, more ice and compression, and set me up for a physical therapy evaluation tomorrow.

Orienteering race 1:33:49 [5] *** 3.0 km (31:16 / km) +100m 26:48 / km
spiked:9/16c shoes: INOV8 Bare Grips

This was a very bad day. I messed up on 2--looking on the wrong side of the trail. After that, I did well until I got to 7. It was located in a pit, with a large rock monolith on one side, and a large log on the diagonal across. I climbed over the log and dropped to the ground and did really bad things to my left knee. Since I don't have to be manly, I made a distressing sound which freaked out several other people near there., I sat for a while, pushed the kneecap back in placer, and got up and punched the control, and managed to somehow get out of the pit. Then I walked very slowly, taking baby steps because my knee was hurting a lot, to controls 8 and 9. I continued on to 10, but since it was very unstable and I could feel it trying to fall out again, I decided to quit and walk back to the finish. I didn't want to mess up the cartilage, or have the embarrassment of having to have others bring me in. So I walked over the spur very slowly, got on the road and walked into the finish.

On the way home, I put both knee braces I had been wearing on the one knee, then iced it down after a MacDonald's stop. We had a ten hour ride home, so it was mostly immobilized, but it was difficult to walk when I would get out of the car.

This afternoon I see the sports doctor.

Unfortunately, this accident overshadowed the good times we had, and the courses and venue which were really challenging, but lots of fun,.
