Workout 45:00 [4]

Heavy sweating, heavy breathing. Just what a workout should be.

Dog Walking 1:15:00 [2] 3.83 mi (19:35 / mi)

Walked (and sprinted) the riverfront trail in Kearney with ElRay and Bob. We couldn't find the trailhead, so we didn't know how long the trail would be. It was an adventure.

Bicycle 21:44 [5] 5.0 mi (4:21 / mi)
ahr:137 max:148

Had to quit after five miles of Rough Rider. Had a few 20% grades, but my power seemed to be off. Really sweating.

I'm somewhat sore in the upper body from yesterday's workout. Amazing that after all this time, Jared can still find some of my muscles that haven't been worked out.

Hiking intervals (1:15:00) 1:15:00 [2] 4.0 mi (18:45 / mi)

Took ElRay out for interval training and walked the circle trail at Watkins Mill. She can really sprint now, but we had lots of walks and stops to sniff and greet people.

Orienteering race 55:08 [5] *** 2.6 km (21:12 / km) +150m 16:27 / km
spiked:12/13c

Today was the middle course at the Ransburg Scout Camp. Although short, we had about the same gradient of climb as yesterday. My navigation was very good through control 11, then I made a huge mistake on 12. I'd forgotten that the course notes had talked about a trail that was not mapped, and when I saw the trail, I thought I should be north of it. This mistake cost me close to 10 minutes, because I ran almost to the finish, ran back to 13, then from 13 back to 12. I then had to run back up the very steep hill to 13, and in to the finish completely out of breath.

That was the bad news. The good news is that my navigation for this meet was greatly improved, and my breathing is also greatly improved. I had a good time. I also came in second in this race (out of a field of 4).

We left before before awards, but I got second place overall, and Sharon is picking up my medal. This has gotten me fired up to try the US Champs.
