Workout 50:00 [4]

The Double Ogg Dare got rained out today, so I came home and did some aerobic weights, plus power and stretch. A really good workout and good breathing too.

Bicycle 31:51 [4] 6.9 mi (4:37 / mi)
max:148

Farmer's Bluff, 6.9 miles, but steepest grade was about 20%. Much better than the other day--I beat the pacer by 2 minutes.

Workout with Jared. Lots of core work tonight.

Dog Walking 30:00 [3] 2.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
shoes: Skechers GoRunS

Dr. appointment today, so needed to take a shorter walk. Went to Jesse James Park, and did the circuit. Along with the sniffing, we did some good enough running to get my heart rate up.

Workout 45:00 [4]

Weights and stretch. Lots of sweat, and intensity was definitely 5 a lot of the time.

Trying to do deep breathing at least 5 days per week, to keep my lungs clean. This was definitely deep breathing.

Orienteering race 52:49 [2] * 4.1 km (12:53 / km)
spiked:16/16c shoes: Skechers GoRunS

OK event for NOW on the KU campus. Fun course. Walked the course, on grass when possible. Felt good the entire time, even though I had to climb Daisy Hill twice, and Daisy is a doozy. Navigation was good, and I was satisfied overall with my route choices. Great to be out doing stuff again.

Bicycle 29:13 [4] 5.4 mi (5:25 / mi)
max:160

Got on the bike for the first time in ages. My legs felt like jelly from Wed. workout with Jared, and now there are like melted jelly. Graded down to the Broken Spoke and was the first time the pacer beat me! There are some grades in excess of 30%.

The point was to keep up training and breath deeply enough to help clear out my lungs. I made my point.

Orienteering 1:45:00 [3] **
spiked:8/9c shoes: INOV8 Bare Grips

Vetted nine of the controls for next week's Score-O. Controls were pretty much orange level, but the territory was really rough. Went slowly, but steady, and didn't run out of breath until the uphill climb after the last one. Then I had to sit and rest a few minutes to get my heart rate back down. Fun to be out orienteering again after such a layoff.

Note

The good thing about time off is that my foot pain is gone. The bad thing is that my combo of antibiotics and steroids can frequently result in Achilles tendon problems. Right now, just breathing is good.

Workout 1:00:00 [4]

Yes, it has been a long time since I logged because of a long vacation and a lot of sickness. After many doctor visits and a lot of meds, I am finally starting to breathe.

I went to my weekly workout with my trainer tonight, did lots of deep breathing, and it felt pretty good, but sore in a good way.

The plan is to get back in training, although I still have to see the doctor Friday for a follow-up evaluation.

The ropes were killers tonight.

Dog Walking 1:15:00 [1] 4.0 mi (18:45 / mi)

Yesterday was mostly spent sleeping with some kind of virulent bug I picked up, so I wanted to do something today and took ElRay to Watkins Mill. The walk was about a 1, but the upper body controlling her the first mile was more like a 3. Not bad timing considering two water breaks, and a dip in the creek. I didn't do any running, breathing while walking was enough.

Workout 1:00:00 [4]

Finally got finished with vacations, put on a few pounds in the last month, and I'm ready to hit the training again.

Today was my workout with Jared. Not as intense as usual, but not wimpy, either.
