Workout with Jared. We finished off with increased weight on the sled since my foot is much better. The workout felt especially good since I have been such a slacker this week. Lots of snow shoveling and driving, but not much else.
Total time was broken up into three episodes. First, reshoveled the walk after we got about 1-1/2 more last night. Then I had to unbury the Rocket, shoveled about half the parking pad, and worked on the driveway. It was productive--solar radiation worked on the blacktop, and I got lots of aerobic exercise.
Did the eastern section of next Saturday's Nite-O event, which is a Score-O format. Fairly easy navigation, really only had to search for one flagging. One control was not flagged, but it's location was really obvious. The good news is that I did a fair amount of running--and it didn't make my foot hurt more than it always does anyway.
Major sweat. In the afternoon, I spent about two hours raking pine needles, stoop labor to bag them, and hauling them back to the blueberry bed was seriously like pulling the sled at the gym.
Cold. A couple of inches of snow on the ground made for wet feet and slippery terrain. Did first 2/3 of course well, but with no candy bar ran out of blood sugar at the end and started making poor decisions.
Went out to Lake Jacomo to vet controls on the southern map. A little mushy from snowmelt. Got woven into one of those on-the-ground woven wire fences, and had a hard landing. Broke the magnifier off my compass. Boo hoo! But great weather today for a change.
