Finally got a medical explanation for some of the malaise I have felt recently. Not enough to make me sick, but I feel like I had been only about 85-90% lately. Over the weekend, while helping out at the DVOA A event, I noticed some sore bumps on my scalp back behind my right ear. I thought they were just pimples in my hair, but they got worse. Turns out that doc thinks it is a mild case of shingles (had chicken pox back at RPI when I was a sophomore). So I am on antivirals and antibiotics. Go back on Thursday.

Walking warm up/down 1:00:00 [1] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Parking cars, helping out and igoring (lifting and moving) heavy things at the DVOA O meet. Had my pedometer on and actually walked about 3 miles before doing a non-compete on orange.

Hay Creek A Meet - Helped out in the Morning and ran orange in the afternoon. Very physical course for orange - much fun!

Major honk on 2 to 3, but felt good about everything else.

Amazingly the right achilles issues was replaced by a left calf muscle pain point. I can't win!

Doing yaller today as I was volunteering and not registered. Taught myself how to use the new thumb compass. Slick device!

Orienteering warm up/down 55:10 [1] 2.13 mi (25:54 / mi) +95m 22:45 / mi

Control pickup at the A meet. It was actually more adventurous than one would think....

Couple "good deeds". Was able to direct a kindof lost couple that we were concerned about to where they should be going twice. They made it back. They wanted to challenge themselves and I applaud that.

Also ran into a cadet that seemed to be fried and needing to get back to the base. Directed him which trails to take. He did make it back safely and I am glad for that.

Helped to look for another lost cadet (via car, so it does not count for anything other than being a good person). He ended up being OK.

Thankfully, all made it back safely.

If these sorts of of things happens in a well developed park like French Creek, imagine what can happen in the wilds of Hay Creek tomorrow. Wishing all well and true compass bearings.
