I have arrived in Missoula! Today we went out to one of Boris' new KP maps at Pattee Canyon. This first bit was me setting the controls for a beginner's course for the rest of the squad to do, which I used as a warmup.
Middle distance while everyone else did the beginner's course. The terrain is a lot of fun - visible, runnable pine forest with some grasses and low bushes, and very manageable levels of steepness. Similar to some stuff in the Spokane area.

Another middle, this one led by Boris because he hadn't yet had a chance to do proper orienteering. We discovered numerous map adjustments and additions, including a nice band of rocks.
Paying homage at the Church of Fishtrap. I drew up a slightly claustrophobic control pick course with the simple goal of getting myself to orienteer quickly, because most of the orienteering I've done recently has been of the PNW-specific green and steep variety, which is a particular kind of physical challenge and not necessarily the most widely applicable training. Made an inexplicable mistake on 16, but overall a great time as always at Fishtrap. Even the weather was cooperative (i.e. pleasant temps).
