Fremont Oktoberfest Street Scramble. A vintage performance, probably one of my best ever. I felt good physically and was moving well, and was executing checkpoints with efficiency and aplomb. Equally important, I also read the rhythms of the streets beautifully, weaving in and out of traffic with panache, as always attempting to follow the example of Dodger from the celebrated Disney animated classic Oliver & Company.

Orienteering race 26:04 intensity: (24 @1) + (29 @2) + (10:46 @3) + (14:25 @4) ** 4.55 km (5:44 / km)

CYA Corn Maze! It was a mass start this year which definitely gave a different feel, and would not have worked without the spreading effect of the ~300m run from the start to the maze entrance. I was the second into the maze just behind young Ben Brady (nice to see him up there!) with a handful of others right behind me. I was in the lead just a bit ahead of GVOC Ben for the first loop, then he caught up soon after starting the second loop, which was a lot slower due to the presence of families and other folks in the maze. I executed the tricky controls well but made a mistake about halfway through and Ben ended up getting me by ~40s.

After the race we headed over to the farm, where pumpkin donuts and other treats were enjoyed.

Running race 5:06 [4] 1.0 mi (5:06 / mi)

Test-ran a mile just to see. A bit faster than I expected.

Went to the Sounders game afterward where we lost 1-0 in the dumbest way imaginable, conceding at 90+4', while up a man, on an egregious keeper error in a game in which we had 65% possession.

Running 15:17 [2] 1.75 mi (8:44 / mi)
