Anza Borregoat, with Willvision! A fun race, though I felt like it was more of a classic - probably because I didn't partake in any time-warping maze shenanigans like last time. The main group was myself, Bonesaw, Thomas Laraia, and a Dutch guy. The Dutch guy was in the lead early, then I took the lead through the 6-9 box and we lost contact with the other two.

I made a silly parallel error around 32:00, climbing up the wrong reentrant on a steep hillside, which grouped the four of us together again. I started to tire on the long leg to ...14? where Bonesaw and Thomas built a small lead, but they bobbled it such that I was in the lead again at 15.

Punched 16 with Bonesaw, and then made a fatefully poor route choice to 17 at about 50:30 which cost 1:30-2:00 and ended up losing me the race. Bonesaw went up and over; I went around, but didn't realize that the flag was actually on the top of one of the spines of the ridge, so I didn't save much climb and added considerable distance.

The other guys followed Bonesaw, so I got to see all three of them parade by above me on the ridge as I trundled up and down crosswise over a bunch of little spines, like a canoe fighting the waves. Caught glimpses of Bonesaw and Thomas a few times after that but never was able to regain contact, though I did manage to catch and put a gap of a minute or so on the Dutch guy by the end, so ended up third about 2:30 behind Bonesaw's winning time.
