Cycling race 3:18 [5] 1.44 mi (26.2 mph)
Set off journeying to Whidbey Island to attend the wedding festivities of Cascade members Run Bosco + partner, but upon nearing the ferry dock realized I had badly misjudged the wait time; the line was over a mile long and I would never make the 4pm ceremony on the other side.
So, I ditched my car, grabbed mr. bike out the back and made a desperate dash for the 3pm ferry in full suit and tie. Met fellow attendee Mike Schuh there - he had also abandoned vehicle to board on foot.
Next problem: get to the venue from ferry dock. Google said 5.3 miles with 500' climb. With est. time of ferry arrival 325pm, it was always going to be a bit dicey. I estimated I'd show up very sweaty and hardly presentable but would make it with 5-10min to spare; meanwhile, Mike was exploring some sort of sketchy bus and/or hitchhiking option.
Then, salvation! I ran into Eileen and Ryan Breseman (also wedding-bound) on the boat; they had space in their car not only for myself and Mike, but also my bike! Hooray Subaru!
Oh, and the wedding was lovely :D
