Discovery Park run. From the Visitor Center to the south end, along the loop trail down to the lighthouse, back up, then got pleasantly lost and wandered around for a while before finding myself at the south end again and working back.

Afterward, I stopped by Seven Hills and used my about-to-expire gift certificates on some new Inov-8 X-Talons and some tasty runner foods.

Bog Slog 2014. Managed second once again; removing the 18-19 split, ~3:00 behind Eric, 45s ahead of Jourdan, a handful in front of Peteris. I didn't have a particularly good run, although the first half of the course went fairly okay notwithstanding 1:30 lost at 6 and 30s at 9.

I then bungled 14 quite efficiently, setting off from 13 about 75 degrees right of intended direction for no reason at all, continuing merrily on for ~200 meters. Still can't fathom what I was thinking - did I even look at the map? This was the least happy I have been with my orienteering self in a long while. Called him all sorts of dirty names. Got quite creative, actually.

So that was almost four minutes lost, then another two at 17 after being accosted by a weirdly behaving trail. 19 was misplaced by ~100m, the fact of which I had been alerted to earlier on by Jourdan. Rolled my ankle pretty good on the way to 22, so had to ease off a bit for the last few. Feels okay now.

Overall, relatively happy with my fitness (11 top splits), but eight minutes of errors is just not good enough in any race.

'Round and 'round and 'round the block, with 10x30s hilltervals. I like to run around my block clockwise to counterbalance running around the track counterclockwise so that my left leg doesn't compress itself.
