Home -> Interbay. This is an example of the rare journey of any real distance which may be achievable in real time faster by bicycle than by car. A number of necessary conditions were present: a relatively direct, largely flat cycling route with comparatively few obstacles/delays (i.e. traffic lights), a lack of a similarly direct driving route, and a departure time during afternoon/evening rush hour, when it is most arduous to traverse downtown Seattle by car.
When I left google said 27min driving; I felt sure I could beat this on bike - and I think I would have, except the waterfront trail ran into a dead end closed-off section, and it took me several minutes to double back and find the designated detour. I was also hindered at times by large quantities of other slow-moving trail users.
I will attempt the same goal tomorrow, and I will be successful.
