Note

Rolled down to Lincoln Tree Farm for some 2016 National Orienteering Championship Invitational (Day 1) course planning action. While I must restrain myself somewhat for the Navy courses, Long Advanced runners will be shown no mercy.

-- -- -- --

In the course of discharging my manful duties, it did so happen that I once neared the summit of a particular crest, and thusly expected, once I had done with the requisite effort, to be regaled with a dramatic prospect of that noble verdure typical to these countrysides - a scene which must always be pleasing to the eye of the solitary traveler. Yet - Lo and Wonderment! Upon gaining my anticipated vista, what shadow did darken my hardy countenance but a scene of most singular and unsurpassed horror!

"Many of these trees were my friends," said I. "Creatures I had known from nut or acorn." Stricken by the grim aspect before me, I sunk to the Earth, and could effect naught but rueful exclamations of that which I now knew ne'er would be.

Ah, controls 108 and 123!

Ah, humanity!
