Every once in a while when one starts getting silly thoughts in one's head, one must suffer through 13.1 miles at a somewhat relaxed pace, so that those thoughts are driven out by the harrowing thought of the untold suffering that would certainly ensue were one to race double that distance. Once this has been accomplished, one will have been restored to the correct frame of mind and is free to resume normal activities.
