Brewery run. Didn't get naked and throw up in front of my child, so overall a success.

Tarawera Ultra 102km

Legs felt quite tight from the get-go, but assumed that would pass as it has done in every run in training, but didn't really seem to happen. By about 30k, i felt a couple little twinges that suggested that cramping would be an issue, but somehow managed to stave it off for the entirity of the race by a combination of salts and adjusting stride, taking it easy through muddy and high step sections, and running uphill instead of walking when i could. Still definately something i need to address
Middle section of about 40k were just SO muddy, meaning that an undulating run with 10k of technical stuff became much longer. The section 70-75k was at the end of a section which should have taken 2 hours but took 3. I had run out of water, and my suunto was so off i had no idea how much further to go. really tough.
One really long steep climb in the middle which reminded me of solitary, while the rest reminded me of cradle.
Saw that 12h was possible from the 5k mark and did the last 5k under 24 mins, with some time to stop and walk oscar over the finish.

The real story of the day was that my goal was to fully enjoy the day and not get let myself get stressed or unhappy or uncomfortable, which i think i did! I loved being out there from start to finish.

Body held up pretty well given how quickly i felt fatigued. Feet were good apart from blisters on the top from pulling my shoes out of the mud and rubbing against the laces. Abductors, high calves, feet and hamstrings sore.

Food
From memory, lets say...
6 flask of tailwind, 5 of electrolyte
7 gels
random foods (crisps, sandwiches, brownies, coke at the last couple).
Weight was down 3kg from the start, which i think is ok (4%)

Suunto 15h mode was a big mistake. gps was shite (maybe the worst out of any i saw on strava), meaning i had no idea where the checkpoints were. will raise a ticket, as i think it actually acted like it was on 100h mode... it still had 70% battery left at the end!
