orienteering 29:11 [3] 6.0 km (4:52 / km) +50m 4:40 / km

A lot of trash talking and joking later (coming from all four sides;)) Sasha and I were set out with a big gap. A no stress run just ticking off the controls alongside Sasha and feeling very hopeful that the girls had managed to hold off the chasers! Sasha and I together going into the gaffled section at the end and went hard through our first splitting alone. In my adrenaline filled state I ploughed straight through a very savage looking bush and came out with a non functioning right leg. Ended up hobbling in a safe way ahead of the English chasers! Great day for the squad and I couldn't think of any better way to (almost) end my time with ScotJOS. Clean, consistent runs all day at the relay was what won it for us in the end so well done to the whole squad:D Kind words from Tony rounded off a good day as well:L A well fought battle between us and the English which made the weekend a whole lot more exciting also...

orienteering 43:20 [5] 9.0 km (4:49 / km) +50m 4:41 / km

Bit nervy but v excited with it being the first JHIs I thought we had a chance of winning. Also the only one I thought we had a chance of doing so at... Started very worried about my physical shape after having to cut Wednesday's run short and walk home due to feeling v v tired (I think this was just down to a severe lack of sleep!). Three was very hidden so lost over a minute and some time lost overshooting number five by quite a way. From here I just took a couple of dodgy routes and was running slightly tentatively. I saw Aidan leaving the little loop at the far end and realised there was no way that he was less than four minutes ahead of me so upped it on the long leg (bad route) and pushed hard into the finish. Not good enough on the day to challenge Harrison or Sasha but very happy with third after how I felt on Wednesday. 7 points in it going into the final day- all was to play for!!

Looking at the routgadget and the optimum route I reckon I must have wasted about 30 seconds on the long leg... A very stupid route!
