Common Ground Fair - lots of walking, anyway

Elliptical 25:00 [4]
shoes: Nimbi

Returned to Y and did another Arc Trainer session after Pilates class. Figured out better how to program for hill intervals -- "on" parts were too hard if anything (resistance level of 70). Certainly breathed pretty hard! Knees OK; hamstring calming down. When to try running again?

Exercise class 30:00 [3]
shoes: Nimbi

My first Pilates (or anything like this) class at Blue Hill Y. One of 3 people, along with Dids. Certainly felt clumsy and inflexible, but got good workout in abs and neck. Will try again.

Bicycling 54:00 [3] 12.5 mi (4:19 / mi)
shoes: Ben's bike shoes

Flye Point and Harriman's with Dids. Cool drizzle - fall is coming.

Core - pushups etc 10:00 [3]

Also prior day returned to hamstring curls / back twist thing with exercise ball. This has helped in the past.

Elliptical 25:00 [3]
shoes: Nimbi

Joined Blue Hill Y and did modest interval piece on Arc Trainer. Don't like it as much as the one at Beaver (have to move arms; don't understand the pre-set workouts), but better than nothing, esp. if hamstring is going to be an issue. I assume I can learn to program it for tougher intervals. Not sure how often I'll go "to town", but this could be good for the winter.

Running 21:00 [3] 2.5 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: Hokas

Wooden Boat shore and back using new trail. Felt creaky starting out, probably from hill descent prior day, but worst was that left hamstring started hurting coming back. Tried to shorten step to maybe help? Cooled it in Herrick Bay but am worried - would like to get in shape for Nationals.

Orienteering (Teaching) 1:30:00 [1] 3.0 mi (30:00 / mi)

The Peninsula 4H club and Blue Hill Heritage Trust are promoting a series of youth activities to get kids (and parents) out into the woods, mainly Trust properties. Orienteering was chosen as the first activity, and I was found by word of mouth as a local expert. Ended up taking the older-kid group up Blue Hill and back on a very rough O map (just a trail map with contours and some features added). A good time was had by all, and I learned from the kids that sumac seed pods are edible.
