Drove there. Adduction/Abduction machine still broken. Also skipped overhead press. Took a picture of a sidewalk library kiosk on the way.

Sidewalk library - leave one, take one.

After nap, as darkness fell. Decided on two laps of the park rather than trying to hit 30 minutes. On cinder path for the most part.

A loop of residential neighborhoods in Buffalo. From lower class (is that politically correct?) to middle class, to upper class. Ran on asphalt mostly but concrete sidewalks on the busier streets. Saw a pop-up library. Checked out the new multi-use paved path near the psych center. Enough turns to keep it interesting. Managed to squeak the run in before the cold front hit. Temp at start was 64F.

Note

Saw a local production of "Other Desert Cities" last night. Spur of the moment decision to go. Excellent cast. Well written.

Here's a funny coincidence. There was a satirical reference in the play to the daughter writing an article about Paul Bowles' favorite haunts in Tangiers for Travel and Leisure Magazine. And just that same day in the NYTimes in a article about French President Mitterand's "illegimate" daughter it mentioned that she was now married to a documentary filmmaker who had made a film about Bowles. Now Bowles is not really well known these days but in his time he was a prominent intellectual and ex-pat. His best known work is the novel, "The Sheltering Sky". So what was interesting to me is that Bowles, for all his globe trotting, is buried in the Lakemont, NY cemetery north of Watkins Glen in the Finger Lakes. Lakemont is a little hamlet, not even an official town, with a population of about 100. It is interesting to me because my Mother and Father are buried not 20 feet from Bowles, in the next row.

After nap. Wet and windy and dark outside so decided to use the treadmill for the first time in a long time. (It seems to be making a lot of noise. Will call service tomorrow to ask them about it.) Pace mostly at 9:40. Used iPod boombox for entertainment.
