Running warm up/down 5:00 [1] 0.4 km (12:30 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Flyroc Sept12

Orienteering race (Colour Series) 1:28:51 [4] 10.05 km (8:50 / km)
ahr:156 max:167 shoes: Inov8 Flyroc Sept12

Brown Course, 8.3k, Spring Grove. Difficult to get a long enough course out of this wee area and it wasn't technical.
I felt decidedly peculiar when getting out of the car at the event - perhaps map-reading on bumpy roads, though it's not affected me like that before. A little light-headed. Decided to run anyway, and felt ok out there, though I didn't push hard and I certainly wasn't sharp. Felt stumbly again on finishing, went for a lie-down when I got home, woke up to find the room doing laps round my head, that was alarming. Feel much better now (several hours later) and I hope a good sleep tonight gets rid of whatever is going on.

Strength & Conditioning (Parkfit) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Inov8 Flyroc Jan13

Taff solo (well, with tyres, ash poles, etc etc etc). He found the wettest muddiest bit of park possible......then made us crawl through it.....then backwards through it again, because once sometimes just isn't enough. Not as exhausting as usual, but just as enjoyable.

Running 30:00 [2] 4.5 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Outdoor Asics Nimbus

My heart wasn't in this - supposed to be LSR (well 60 minutes, not exactly L) but I made it to 30 before I bailed. Easy running, should have been nice, on the plus side everything felt absolutely fine, no niggles or nowt.

Note
slept:7.5 (rest day)

OK, well rested for the weekend, time to listen to the body as my R knee is still giving little warning signs. Got to fit tomorrow's training round some paperwork, boo.
On the plus side, I feel a cheeky weekend in Dublin coming on. SUFTUM :)

R leg a little bit achy today (probably a bit of ITB strain causing knee pain) so gonna give it the day off

Running warm up/down 5:00 [2] 0.5 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Flyroc Jan13

Pre-WEE run to the toilets. Ah ha ha ha ha. Plus warm-up.

Orienteering race (WEE Series) 25:44 [5] 4.59 km (5:36 / km)
ahr:167 max:175 shoes: Inov8 Flyroc Jan13

Round Two - and it's 2-0 to Olivia. Together at the start, and I got well ahead to 3 after superior route choice. I thought I could throttle back a little and save something in reserve. Next thing I know, Olivia is past me like a scalded cat and disappeared up the nearest hill. Didn't even wait for me. How rude. I couldn't keep up. Navigation spot on till the final control. Then -10s final control - went into the forest too early (though I think several people did) and -10s finish due to circuitous route home.

1st ph 22:21 (now reaching record-breaking levels with Session Four of the New Training Plan - so I'm told)
2nd PaulP 23:32
4th Olivia 24:50
6th me 25:34 6:33 per km (slower than last week even with last week's slow-down though I suppose this week had more hills).

Pleasing result in the grand scheme of things, times were relatively close at the top so I would like to see the splits to see if mistakes had an impact

Strength & Conditioning (DVD) 35:00 [4]

Third date with Jillian. She is relentless! Also turns out my post-Lent chocolate frenzy has made me rather portly so it's back on the wagon and off the lard for the next couple of weeks. After 4 weeks of racing i will be welcoming back the long slow run, and hopefully some sunny hikes, so will be back on track soon.

Orienteering race (Irish Champs) 38:34 [5] 4.43 km (8:42 / km)
ahr:163 max:179 slept:8.5 shoes: Inov8 Flyroc Jan13

Loved it! 1st leg, nip and tuck with Ruth and Sharon, scrappy but pushing really really hard. Beautiful terrain with less rock detail cluttering up the map, and I found I could run hard and cope ok with the hills. Ruth got a bit ahead over the last handful of controls, and I finished neck & neck with Sharon.
2nd leg Heather brought us back with a healthy lead, and Olivia nearly held on to it but in the end we were second which was a great result and a case of 'if only' as it was so close in the end. Congrats to CorkO
