Running 59:40 [3] 5.17 mi (11:32 / mi) +100m 10:53 / mi
shoes: On Cloudflow dark grey

Exploring the woods and remaining snow and ice patches. Trails are for the most part badly iced over. Woods were partially bare and partially snow covered, both made for good running. Started in the woods (no trails) , then 4 hill sprints up myhill, then more woods, skitrails on logging cuts. Eventually got tired of it, bailed out to PF road to Griffith and over to Shirley Thompson farm trail loop which was almost entirely snowless. Then home. Did not feel very snappy today - snacked too much throughout the day. Maybe a bit hung over from yesterday.

Road Running 19:58 [3] 2.65 mi (7:32 / mi) +25m 7:19 / mi
shoes: On Cloud grey-black

Run to work. All on road (Mill Rd then McDaniel Dr) Trails are too icy.
4 PM

Road Running 46:41 [3] 6.04 mi (7:44 / mi) +70m 7:28 / mi
shoes: On Cloud grey-black

Running home on a longish detour: out W Main Str to Lee 4 Corners. Then checked in at the Farm Store (no bread, baker is in Germany), then back home direct Rt via Garrity.
8 PM

Dancing 1:30:00 [1]
shoes: Newton MV3

Contra in Newfields. Fun event with a superb band and caller. Very rhythmic, uptempo for the most part, and not much time spent on calling, yet caller was able to accommodate many newcomers. I log it as 90 minutes workout. Chatted with omaps and B. - he was indeed dancing with right arm in the sling - but only the waltz, not the contras.

Classic Skiing 38:28 [3] 2.96 mi (13:00 / mi) +20m 12:44 / mi
shoes: Atomic NX Waxless

Ski to work. Same as yesterday but on waxless skis. About 10 degrees warmer today. Some good glide here and there, especially in the skidder tracks. I skied all the way to Gregg Hall adding a detour to CW around the new water works construction site. Stopped the timer once I took the skis off.
4 PM

Classic Skiing 44:20 [3] 3.15 mi (14:05 / mi) +30m 13:40 / mi
shoes: Atomic NX Waxless

Skiing home. It warmed up to 38F and the crunchy hardpack is all softened. Now it feels like skiing! The Atomics are just right for these conditions. Snow is still fast since it originally was all sleet. After W.F. Farm and the shelter I turned off towards Mill Rd and Spruce Wood. The tracks I layed around SH are still very good!

In the moonlight.
9 AM

Snowshoeing 20:00 [3] 0.5 mi (39:59 / mi)

Crunching through the solid crust in the backyard to create a "playground" for the grandson. Back and forth, back and forth....Soft snow underneath...
10 AM

XC Skiing 49:55 [3] 3.02 mi (16:32 / mi) +25m 16:07 / mi
shoes: Karhu BC Tele Skis

Ski to work. I had to do it! Conditions were crappy. Cold. Compact slightly frozen 1 inch layer on top of snow pack. I had to slam through it with my telis for about a mile, then some existing but not very deep tracks for 1/2 mile, then logging skidder tracks, which ended up being the best section - allowed me to do some gliding. Unfortunately the abrasive crust cleaned my wax off my skis in about the first half mile, so uphills were a killer. (luckily my route is pretty flat). A formidable workout nevertheless.
4 PM

XC Skiing 53:11 [3] 3.11 mi (17:06 / mi) +35m 16:31 / mi
shoes: Karhu BC Tele Skis

Skiing home with absolutely no kick. Still crunchy but tracks are getting to be slightly better. Same route as skiing in: Troys field to pleasure house, via pond to W Foss Farm and to campus. On my way home bypassed the pond trying to find a route but Troy's new house obstructed access to his field, this ended up being a detour.

Classic skiing, making more tracks around the hole.

Snow Shoveling/Moving 45:00 [1]

I decided to move snow while it was still light and fluffy using the "snow sled". About 6 inches. Sleet and ice is forecast for the rest of the day, yuk! I cleaned the cars out, dumping the snow out to the driveway for the plow. Then walkways around the house and finally the porch, moving all the snow to the front yard. The solar collector clean-out will have to wait.
4 PM

XC Skiing (back country laying track) 1:50:06 [2] 6.1 mi (18:03 / mi) +100m 17:10 / mi
shoes: Karhu BC Tele Skis

Perfect BC conditions! 6 inches of powder under 2 inches of sleet. Sleet makes for fast cruising: all these micro balls keep the skis moving. I just slapped some green kicker over who knows what old layers of dirt and wax on my Tele skis. Worked beautifully! Temps 15 rising to 20. No wind - feels balmy. I was able to make tracks on about 3 miles of trails - tracks are about 1 inch deep, just like machine-made. On the second run through, it was quite fluid with even some double poling. I tracked most of the logging cuts. Another skier had made nice tracks on a loop up Electric Avenue and around the Hole. Spruce Hole Cross Country Skiing is taking shape!
