Trail running 25:00 [3] 2.7 mi (9:16 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Around the trails and some off-trails at Spruce Hole and VW fields w. Jena.
I feel somewhat normally recovered from HHL. See how I feel this Sunday.
Note: Had a chat in-between with neighbor Lee (and her 2 dogs) - discussing their attempt a solarizing their place.

Road Running 45:00 [3] 5.5 mi (8:11 / mi) +120m 7:40 / mi
shoes: Newton MV3

Running the Wednesday Hills to Lee. Did some modest hill sprints with recovery walk or jog afterwards. There are 5 hills total.
This may be my first road run since April. Not much of a training regime for an upcoming road marathon this Sunday. But try to avoid road runs b/c of lumbar issues.

Trail running 30:00 [2] 2.2 mi (13:38 / mi)
shoes: New Balance MT 101

Jogging with Jena around Spruce Hole after a day of "resting". A thick carpet of leaves has formed over the weekend. Foot is quite sore around the bunion, still swollen from the HL. Very slow going for obvious reasons.

Orienteering race 4:57:03 [3] 32.0 km (9:17 / km) +1048m 7:59 / km
spiked:26/32c shoes: New Balance MT 101

H. Highlander. My first. Loved it! Up my alley, although I cramped during the last loop as I have in most long races in the last 5 years. The cool weather is deceiving: I chose what I perceived to be a comfortable pace, but cumulatively my quads were not happy when I got to # 22 and subsequent controls. With a lot of stopping, massaging, trying to relax I was slowly able to jog again 30 - finish, but only very gingerly. Upside was that I felt quite refreshed when I finished. Next time - I hope there will be one soon - I'll apply the JB strategy: Take it even slower on the trail run and eat and drink and eat and drink.....
Thanks HVO crew for a great event!
