Orienteering race 1:14:04 [3] *** 5.86 mi (12:38 / mi) +230m 11:16 / mi
spiked:15/18c shoes: Icebug

Pawtuckaway event, Blue Course set by Paul Regan. Nice course, fluid and fast in places. I felt pretty confident and had good energy running-wise. A 70 seconds mistake on 15 (drifted too far east), some hesitation on 7 (~ 20 seconds). Saw Steve T walking hesitantly towards 10, so I veered off to the right, assuming he was not approaching the control, But I was wrong, noticing my mistake immediately (! 20 seconds). The rest I nailed. 10 - 18 were on Big Island, which, as usual had lower visibility and runnability. 13 was placed in the cliff group surrounding the highest hill-top. Nice control location on the dot-knoll!

Orienteering (Control pick-up) 1:17:00 [2] 4.0 mi (19:15 / mi) +200m 16:40 / mi
shoes: New Balance MT 101 sz 9

Collecting controls on Big Island. Jogged in the beginning and at the end, otherwise I walked. The navigation was more challenging as I was doing the 4 blue course controls in reverse order. Mosquitos were fierce now that I was sweat covered and going slower.

Swimming 15:00 [2]

I had to go for a swim on this lovely day since the O event was staged out of the beach parking lot. Water was cold at the bottom but warmish near the surface. Did a few free-style laps back and forth until I was thoroughly cooled off. Nice way to finish the day.
