Orienteering race 1:05:52 [4] 7.0 km (9:25 / km)
shoes: VJ Falcon

Wellington Champs Long - "Knolls of Leary" - 5.26Km 450m

Expected this to be brutal and was not disappointed! Good area, but so physical - lots of slopes where it was a real struggle to find a route up without slipping back down, and plenty of awkward vegetation.

Went into it feeling very tired, and deliberately didn't attack the course. A few minor wobbles on 3-4, 7, 10, 15, probably totaling about 1 min. Survived but very tired afterwards.

Orienteering race 26:17 [4] 4.5 km (5:50 / km) +100m 5:15 / km
shoes: VJ Falcon

Wellington Champs Middle - Riverlands - M50 - 3.96Km 100m

Game of 2 halves. Fun fast running on the flat looking for the vague contour shapes, then some rather less fun rugged stuff towards the end. Legs feeling really tired even before I started and it was just as well it was only a middle distance because I didn't improve that much. Fairly clean except for 30s at 10 when I couldn't relocate correctly having just passed the trees before the control. Also minor miss at 13.

Cycling 58:48 [3] 25.31 km (2:19 / km)

The Whitemans Valley loop CW.
Legs still tired from the rogaine, but tried to go reasonably hard anyway. Thwarted by strong breeze swirling in the valley and making the last few minutes very hard work.

Cricket 1:20:00 [1]

First net session of the season using the new Fraser nets. Fairly rusty as expected.

The short Avian-Avro loop
Familiar rogaine recovery run. Very stiff to start with but gradually got moving, though always feeling tired.

Rogaine race 3:03:17 [3] 23.0 km (7:58 / km) +1009m 6:32 / km
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

From Nairnville Park from Crofton Downs up to J'ville and up and over the ridge in the West.

More difficult than usual as a 1:20000 map, so working out distances was awkward. I was over-ambitious. Could have got a lot more points by missing some out early on and getting right up to the north end of the map. Also lost about 5 minutes at 61 - have always struggled with the tracks in that bit of bush.

Had to keep going at a reasonable rate to get back in time and then made a last minute decision to get 72 even though I knew I'd be late. So a lot of extra pain right at the end and was cramping up too much to run hard to get back to the finish.

Garmin stopped working after about 1:45. Recorded height gain and loss, but not distance.
