Orienteering race 31:18 [4] 5.5 km (5:41 / km)
(injured) shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

Australian Champs Relay. 4.7Km 100m

Running 3rd leg after Jeff G and Guy C-W. Really fun race, with a mixture of terrain and techniques, and several trickier controls in the gold mining terrain.

Legs stiff and sore beforehand, but OK once I was running. Various small time losses and then lost 45 sec on the last control through following Rob Walter after we had 3 controls in common. Doh! Pulled the team up from 7th to 2nd, but didn't really know who I was running against. Beaten by undy's team, about which I am sure to be reminded in future!

Orienteering race 49:53 [4] 8.0 km (6:14 / km)
(injured) shoes: Inov8 X-talon 212

Australian Long Distance Champs - Hill End - 6.6Km 250m

A mix of short tricky legs in gold mining terrain and long boring legs in spur gully terrain. Too short by a couple of Km.
Solid run. Lost about 20 sec 2-3 not in control approaching the circle. Unfortunate route 3-4 - white forest quite slow. No other time loss except for a bad fall approaching 11.

Physically pretty good, though wasn't pushing too hard. Completed the treble, but M45 and M55 were both a lot more competitive.

Hamstring is fairly sore generally, but wasn't too bad while running.

Left glute quite sore. Also a sore neck.

Orienteering race 39:35 [4] 6.0 km (6:36 / km)
(injured) shoes: VJ Falcon

Day 3 5.2Km 265m

Easy but physical. Seemed like most of the course was uphill. After spending all morning watching the Schools relay it was a struggle to get going, and the legs felt fairly tired. Hamstring / glute also sore. No real problems but lost time getting round brambles in a couple of places.

Orienteering race 16:38 [4] 4.0 km (4:10 / km)
(injured) shoes: Nike Pegasus 33

Bathurst 3-day 2. Sprint.

Not really up for this. SI sore, and generally achey so wasn't moving too quickly or easily. One careless 30 second mistake where I hadn't seen a leg (13-14) on the map. Biggest mistake was not owning an SI-Air card as there were 28 controls and runners with SI-Air were clearly saving a lot of time. Maybe nearly a minute on the whole course including controls where people were able to reach through fences to punch, where you couldn't quite reach with a normal SI card.

Orienteering 50:26 [3] 8.0 km (6:18 / km)
(injured) shoes: VJ Falcon

Bathurst 3-days, day 1. Same course as Senior Boys Schools Champs - 7.2Km 250m

Very typically Australian. Vague spur gully with rocks and lots of eucalypt branches so that the forest was slower and tougher than it looked. Felt slow to start with and got worse. A real struggle towards the end and was very tired afterwards. Orienteering very loose early on. Lost time on 1,2,6,7,13 - probably 2 mins in total.
