HB Club Event - Tainui Reserve 3.5Km

Very physical middle distance style course, but on a 1:4000 map. If the contour interval was really 5m then there was 500m climb. My guess would be 2.5m contours for 250m climb (or maybe 2m contours).

Fairly straightforward. Lost 45s on 18, which was in the wrong place (compounded by the map not being correct - we checked it out afterwards). And then about 15s to 19 getting disorientated after the confusion at 18. Local knowledge would probably have helped at times such as when getting stuck getting to 11.

Physically OK, but hip a little sore. Wimped out on most of the (many) descents.

From TMP around Riverstone (CW) and back. Went to the end of the road at the top of Riverstone.

Cold day and only felt moderate. Hamstring a bit achy all the way.

The Cannon Point loop ACW (not visiting the trig)

Pushed for time so had to run at a decent tempo. Took a few minutes to get going properly, but feeling reasonable. Very slight soreness in hamstring, but it seems that all the exercises are doing the trick.

The Whitemans Valley loop CW. Fairly gentle northerly which was enough to make the last few minutes hard work. Generally feeling pretty good though.
