Still trying to figure out what I saw yesterday at the college XC races before I went to Oak Mountain. At least one woman per team collapsed or almost collapsed after crossing the finish line. I was told only one guy collapsed. This isn't what I've seen at other college races this year, or at the high school races, and was a cause for discussion. The weather was just about perfect for running a race. Several causes were proposed:
- Cold wind infering with breathing (but we had only one woman who was having trouble breathing)
- No breakfast (would explain why people weren't throwing up more)
- A virus going around (a couple women were coming back from being sick, but why weren't the guys falling over?)
- It's conference championship (Why weren't the guys falling over?)
I'm not sure what to think at this point.
