Forest Orienteering 40:00 [3] 4.0 km (10:00 / km)

After running to the Canmore Town map I ran there and then ran on like this islandish part to the right and concluded that it could become a half-decent map.

Running 50:00 [4] 6.0 km (8:20 / km)

Ran to the map and back.

Climbing 1:45:00 [3]

Tested out some hard stuff. 5.12 is a long way away, so is 511d. I should stick to 5.11a/b and just train harder.

Forest Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] 3.0 km (20:00 / km)

Walked on the hard part in bow valley because it was difficult to be running in fresh, melting snow slush as my feet got soaked and then just got colder the more I ran so I was able to conserve the most heat by walking.

Climbing 2:00:00 [5]

Pain.

Forest Orienteering 2:30:00 [3]

Orienteering on Nose Hill. Started late, ran with Emma for about an hour and then I continued on my own for another 1.5 hour in the dark. Great night o. I returned home at 10:30 pm and didn't have enough time for climbing.

Climbing 1:15:00 [3]

I went running to the University's Olympic Oval, but it was closed. I ended up climbing at the University's bouldering wall instead.

Monday Apr 14, 2014 #

Climbing 2:30:00 [3]

Tried climbing as much as I could.
Morning session on the team and then again in the evening.

Map Reading 3:00:00 [3]

Community Volunteering for the FWOC club. Organized a session for scouts, designed a course in Condez and set it up on site. This was also a practical assignment I need for completing my O100 course. We showed them the Hubman's video to give them an idea what high performance orienteering is about and the Scout leaders were amazed to learn that orienteering is actually a real sport and a huge one (they judged it from the crowds along the finishing line at the beginning of the movie). This was an important lesson to learn. We need to make the public aware about the size of the sport in the world. One of the Scout leaders showed an interest in joining FWOC after she realized how big the sport is.

Hiking 2:20:00 [4]

Lady, without Damian it went slower. And I succeeded in breaking both of my crampons.

Climbing 3:00:00 [4]

I climbed a ton of routes but its looking bad towards westerns.

Climbing 2:30:00 [4]

Warmed up. Then did pyramids. Then did 15 in 5 (I personally thought that I did 13, but the coach said that no I was lapped therefore I would have had 11 so I have no idea). Then tried to onsight a sketchy 5.10+ (didn't).

Friday Apr 11, 2014 #

Running 1:10:00 [5] 14.4 km (4:52 / km)

Concluding from some estimations and some calculations, I ran at under 2:30 for each lap for the first nine laps. Then a guy from the UofC (Mike) caught up and I paced myself with him. We ran under 2:10 for each the rest of the laps therefore I deducted that from about 50 min of this I covered the rest of the 14.4 km.

Wednesday Apr 9, 2014 #

Climbing 1:30:00 [3]

Tried to climb. Didn't do anything special.

Running 1:00:00 [4] 1.6 km (37:30 / km)

Did circuits. Hard workouts like push ups, squats, etc, stairs, and then a 400m. All that 4 times.

Monday Apr 7, 2014 #

Climbing 1:30:00 [3]
slept:6.0

Not feeling it. Gotta pull my socks up for Westerns in two weeks. Just tried to climb.

I found out on ACA web site that I ranked 4th over all in my category in Alberta for this season :-)

Running 30:00 [4] 3.2 km (9:22 / km)
slept:6.0

Was feeling not good. Just have to get back into it. Surprisingly did 8x400 badly as in pretty slow (probably 85 or 90's)

Saturday Apr 5, 2014 #

Note

Driving back to Calgary - it took two days. I studied science most of the time.

Climbing 5:00:00 [3]

Joshua Tree - Wonderland (Challenging route finding to the base of the dome - it was couple of km over boulder fields and washes. I used a Google satellite map to find the cliff. I regretted I did not manage to get the orienteering map from Rex for this area. The orienteering could have been a brutal challenge.)
