4 Peaks Day 2 - Mt Feathertop - 4th

After yesterday felt a little bit more in a race and obviously didn't want to let people who I beat yesterday beat me as I was now thinking about the GC. Yesterdays rough aim was just top 10! So took off with a little bit more of intent. Found myself in a breakaway with Etienne and Nathan after about 10 minutes. Soon regret as I felt I was working a little harder than I would have liked but kept up the pace. Let them to move on and later found myself with Ash. Was struggling here at about 30 minute in - the climb was just constant and no real undulations to break things up, but Ash saved me here and I let him take the pace and he carried me on. At about 50 minutes I sensed he was dying and tried to push on but struggled as it was really step and rocky. Group of 3 caught us here including Baldy and Bryon. They moved forwards and I was able to stick with a bit more effort. Ash was now out the back door which was good for GC. Just sat on the group of 3 and got carried up the hill to the hut at their tempo. After the hut it flattened out to the cross paths and to the base of Feathertop climb. Byron pushed on once the climb began and I went a few seconds later. Trailed him up the climb and finished 4 seconds behind. After beating him yesterday I was not to fused about a few seconds and was happy to make it to the top gaining further time on all the other runners. Great views from the top and a real good atmosphere with all the runners!

4 Peaks Day 1 - Mt Buffalo - 3rd

Had no expectations for this. When driving yesterday the mountains didn't seem as big as I thought but knew it wasn't going to be steep tough though! Bit of a mad rush to get over the single file bridge after 200m then up the hill but things settled down. Ran my own race from here on and let a few get away including Nathan up the first long steep climb. Then worked my way in once less steep. Pushed along the steady 'flat' hills overtaking Ash into 3rd. Through the hairpins and up to the top with Byron behind but nothing troubling. Once on the flatter top section, took it all in and got the GoPro out and started filming! Nice BBQ hot dogs at the top.
