BUCS 2017 @ Wharncliffe - 9th
Little prep going into this (1 sprintervals & 2 average at best forest sessions), but feeling good. Started well, nailed 1. Steady on 2 to get it right. Raz on 3. Worked on the slope well going past a lost Tam (2 min man) near 5. Got Potter (4 min man) at 7 after taking lower and faster route. Worked hard in the terrain to 8 and out to path for leg to 9. Raz on path to 9 then bearing in. Steady in the rocks with Potter to get it right. On to the moor for a Raz but began to bonk hard due to only eating and cheese and onion sandwich before hand but pushed on hard regardless. Miss on 18 - cheeky control. Big train came flying through (Johny, Jamie, Sasha) so hopped aboard to the end, but was bonking bad and smashed my toe/foot on a rock so was struggle to the end.
Good run, but could have been much better if I could have ran to what my fitness would have allowed from14 to the finish. No real mistakes, just caution at times but that is to be expected when you haven't orienteered much recently. When I get back into it again proper I will be very good!
