BUCS XC - Graves Park - 47th (B)
Went into the race not knowing what to expect. I knew that training had been going fairly, abliet the last two/three weeks due to assessments, but had still got a few key sessions in.
Was a big nervous before the race for some reason, last BUCS? Sheffield BUCS? - I don't know. Was warming up when someone shouted me and it was Dad with Max which was a nice surprise and calmed me immensely. Quick shit in the bush, few stretches and strides and I was race ready.
Got a little boxed in at the start but managed to work my way through. Felt good and comfy sticking to the steady start plan, but still maybe went off a little too quick? Work my way through the fast starters on the first lap and felt good.
Started working throughout the second big lap and got pretty hungry. Hunger got worse on the last lap. Didn't really lose any places but struggled to push on when their were groups of people in front of me who I should have ploughed through.
Regardless, good race, fairly happy with it and at the start of the year I said running was my lowest priority due to uni and with that in mind, its a good result.
