Scottish 6 Days - Day 1 - Achagour - 11th

First orienteering in ages, especially on a technical area. Blew 3 minutes on 1, great start! After that it was pretty good and started where i left off at POM. Dropped a few bits of time here and there, such as 10,11 and 19 through a lack of sharpness.

Finished 1st but ended up in 11th, 4 minutes down. Could have probaly ran that time without the mistake on 1 if i wasnt taking it so easy/warry with not orienteering in ages.

Running warm up/down 8:43 [1] 1.29 km (6:45 / km)

Queens Park 5k - 2nd - New course PB by about 50s.

Felt completely dead warming up before the start, probably due to being up since 5.45am for the early train to a meeting in Birmingham with Rob, then surveying a 20 story building in the afternoon.

So just set off with the aim of a good result, not a time, but knew there were some decent runners there. Sat on Marc Hartley for as long as I could with Matt Smith just behind. That's the way it ended. Although I probably lost 5-10 with 600m to go when my throat dryed up and had to stop for a second and lost my rhythm. Not a fast course either with some hilly sections, terrain parts and turn around point/bends. Looking good.

Mile splits: 5.06, 5.26, 5.29 - fast first part to the course before hills etc.

Running warm up/down 18:07 [1] 3.21 km (5:39 / km)
shoes: Adidas Boost
