FIrst time orienteering in over 4 months (since Jug Bay in early June) and for the most part I think it went fairly well. I thought I could finish in about 2 hours and it took me almost 2.5 hours. COnsidering that, I think I made the right call in choosing Green today.
I only had one control that gave me any trouble. That was the 8th control. I mistook one stream bed for another one and turned right a little earlier than I should have. I kept going for a while. Eventually I decided that I must have gone too far and turned around and started heading back. I got lucky and spotted it off to my left. I think this mistake probably cost me 10-15 minutes.
The weather was damp and moist. It rained a little bit while I was out on the course but not as bad as was predicted. Later, after I finished the course the rain started to really come down.
For the first time I figured out how to download my track from my FitBit Surge. The data was uploaded to the FitBit web site and then I download a TCX file from the web site which I then unloaded to BaseCamp. Then I was able to download a GPX file of the track from BaseCamp.
