Bicycled from downtown Silver Spring to home by way of Wayne Ave and Flower Ave. The route was all downhill on Wayne until I reached Sligo Creek and then it was all uphill until I reached Flower. It wasn't as tough a climb up Wayne as I thought it would be, even with a backpack full of groceries.

Bicycled home from the Fort Totten Metro for the first time. The only part of the route that I had not bicycled before was the first section: from Fort Totten to 3rd Street. The back half of the route was the same as the route I used last night.

Halfway up the steepest hill I tried shifting from mid to low gear but instead switched to high. I came to a grinding halt and almost fell over. I had to stop and with both feet on the ground shift to low gear and then get back on the bicycle.

Tongiht, for the first time since I started working in Tysons, I saw someone walking to the Metro, like me, from the building where I work.

It was raining when I left the office so I took the train to Takoma. It was still raining lightly when I arrived at Takoma. I just missed the bus, and I didn't feel like waiting 20-30 minutes for the next bus. There weren't any bikes at the CaBi station at the Metro so I walked 0.3 miles to the CaBi station near Mark's Kitchen.

I didn't take the usual route from Mark's Kitchen. Instead I took a very hilly route, along Elm Avenue, which had four steep descents and three steep climbs. I had walked this route plenty of times before but it was the first time I bicycled this route. I may start bicycling this route more frequently in the future.

Note

I tried walking to the office from the Tyson's Corner Metro Station this morning. I had to cross Chain Bridge Road twice and International Drive once. It wasn't faster than walking from the Greensboro Metro Station. It was also less convenient.
