Biking 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Cascadia NI

Used the Bike to pick up all the close to trail controls.

A successful meet. The bike riders all loved the course. After I get a chance to digest everything will talk with Robert who did the 4hour bike. He is from CNYO and travels around the US doing a lot of bike meets. So I am hoping to get some tips to make the bike part better. My other observation was I need to change this to a 6 hr or 8 hr Rogaine. The highest score was 27 out of the 35 total points. I also did not use 25% of the map. I could not fit it on 11 X 17 paper at 1:10,000. Oh well a lot to think about. I will also need to decide what to improve before next year on the map. Got the trails, roads, buildings and pipelines updated now.

Finished up the controls at Camp Stem for the Rogaine tomorrow. Feel like I set controls for a 6hr or 8hr not the 4hr that we are actually doing. It should be interesting.

I set controls at Camp Stem today on the mountain bike. Finally figured out how to bunge cord the stands to the bike.

Some controls are close to the trail or road. Others I just rode to a good attackpoint then went to the control on foot.

The mountain bike seems to help in a Rogaine format like this meet, since the distances between controls are much longer.

Other 2:00:00 [1]

The only thing the grandkids wanted to do was swim due to the hideous temp's and humidity combo today. So we went over to the beach at Rough River State Park.

What a draining experience this heat has been on the camping trip.

Other 1:05:00 [3]
shoes: INOV TERROC 330

Took the two oldest grandkids on a cave crawl at Cave Creek. Much larger cave than I had expected. The cool temps were quite welcome on a very hot & humid day

Kayaking 3:00:00 [1]

Took the 8 grandkids - one at a time on kayak and tried to get them familiar with the kayak and safety. Good time to be in the water since it was really hot on this camping trip. Included some time for the older ones to paddle by themselves while I was on another kayak just in case help was needed.

Road test and written test at the Bike Class. Passed - got the club jersey from the Louisville Bike Club. Learned a lot from the class. Glad I spent the time. It was good to see Andrew Thai again. Now I am also officially a member for year at the Bike Club. Interesting group, a well oiled machine.
